Methods of Massage

All Methods of Massage are available to you at the prices listed below

Swedish Massage

It is the most common type of massage to promote relaxation of the entire body, easing muscle tension with long, fluid strokes of the muscle tissue with the aid of a lotion or oil.

It can be used in a full-body massage or for a particular focus on an area of the body.

The pressure used can range from light to deep, depending on the needs of the tissue and the preference of the client.

Client can choose to undress to their comfort level, and will be lying both face up and face down during the course of the massage.

Trigger Point Therapy

This type of massage work is often done in conjunction with another method, such as Swedish or sports massage techniques.

Triggers points can be found in the sensitive areas of the muscle tissue, often in the form of a knot or ball. They may cause pain in that specific area or could be causing pain somewhere else in the body, described as referred pain.

This method will bring relief to those areas of the body by putting deep pressure on that specific point, allowing a cascade of effects to take place, and awakening your body's Natural healing process.

Myofascial Release

This type of massage focuses on our fascia, connective tissue that covers one's entire internal body, connecting one part of the body to every other part. It can become tight and tense wtih stress, repetitve motion, and maintaining the same position for long periods of time.

Its superficial location in the body means that only a light pressure will be used to specifically target this layer. With no oil or lotion, the friction will help to release the tension and stiffness of the fascia layer.

It can be used to specifcally to focus on a particularly tense, tight, or painful area of the body. There will need to be skin to skin contact for whichever area of the body is being worked on.

Craniosacral Therapy

This method of massage work involves subtle manipulation of the bones of the cranium, spinal column, and sacrum (the triangular bone at the base of the spine) to help release tension and improve the flow of cerebrospinal fluid.

the pressure is gentle and light, using just the weight of the hands of the practitioner to feel for tension or restriction in the areas that support the central nervous system (cns) with the goal of restoring balance and harmony within the body.

With this focus on the cns, there may be an emotional release as well as a physical release of tension, chronic pain (such as with headaches), and stress.

The client will remain fully clothed, lying face up on a massage table.

Shiatsu

This method of massage is based on the traditional chinese medicine (TCM) concept of Qi, which is the vital energy that flows through each of us.

Often illness, pain, and poor mental health are an effect of a blockage of this vital energy.

The method of shiatsu will unblock this energy by using pressure on the points along the meridian lines of the body, gentle stretching, and rhythmic rocking.

The client will need to wear light comfortable clothing, remaining dressed throughout the process of the massage. They will be lying both face up and face down on a futon matress on the floor.

Chair Massage

This method of massage is designed to be a quick and effective way to alleviate stress and tension.

The client will sit, fully clothed, in a ergonomically designed chair with specific areas for resting your head, arms, and torso. This allows for acess to back, neck, shoulders, and arms--common areas for holding tension.

It is a good alternative to other massage methods for those with a busy schedule or for those who want to test the benefits of massage for the first time.
